Nel precedente articolo vi chiedevamo di capire che figura si celasse nell’immagine

e oggi come promesso la risposta

Noi vediamo quello che conosciamo, possiamo dire di essere “ciechi” verso tutto ciò che noi non “conosciamo”.

Infatti ora risulta evidente che le ombre rappresentano una mucca e se proviamo a riguardare la prima figura, ora che “conosciamo la risposta”, ci sembrerà impossibile non notarla, immediatamente.

Pare ovvio che non siano i soli 10/10 a permetterci di “vedere”.

Come già detto, la visione è un’insieme di abilità percettive e spaziali, integrate con gli altri sistemi sensoriali e cognitivi: con lo sviluppo del bambino questo sistema diviene dominante sugli altri sistemi sensoriali.

Le abilità visive, che rispondono largamente all’organizzazione di tutto il sistema e alla sua relazione con l’attività cognitiva, non sono quindi innate, ma vengono apprese attraverso una serie di esperienze percettive e motorie. Esempio banale, se riguardaste ora l’immagine (senza i bordi) vedreste quasi tutti la mucca!

Dopo la presentazione del quesito percettivo e la risoluzione dello stesso c’è stato un principio di apprendimento percettivo, che se ripetuto nel tempo con altri quesiti percettivi di questo genere renderà sempre più sensibile la vostra capacità di discriminare una figura dallo sfondo.

Prima di effettuare il riconoscimento di un oggetto, il sistema visivo deve organizzare la rappresentazione delle varie parti dell’oggetto in un’unica rappresentazione integrata e per farlo segue determinate regole di organizzazione percettiva, studiate dalla psicologia della Gestalt.

Tra le altre abilità percettive ritroviamo ad esempio la capacità di chiusura della forma, ovvero la capacità di percepire una forma completa, nonostante abbia i contorni interrotti da spazi vuoti; il raggruppamento per somiglianza di oggetti con

simile colore, forma, trama superficiale o orientamento spaziale; la percezione del movimento comune di singoli elementi posti in vicinanza che vengono percepiti come parti di un unico oggetto in movimento.
Queste ed altre abilità visuo-percettive sono alla base dello sviluppo delle abilità visuo-spaziali, ovvero la comprensione della localizzazione di un oggetto ed il suo riconoscimento.

Tra queste abilità ritroviamo:

– le abilità di fissazione, che consentono di sostenere lo sguardo e l’attenzione su un target senza compromettere la percezione periferica;

– le abilità di inseguimento, che consentono di sostenere la fissazione su oggetti in movimento;

– le abilità saccadiche, che consentono di effettuare saccadi (salti con gli occhi da un punto ad un altro) in modo preciso e rapido, fondamentali nella letto-scrittura;

– le abilità di cambio di messa a fuoco e di binocularità, che consentono una visione nitida e singola in modo istantaneo quando si cambia la direzione di sguardo (ad esempio si passa a guardare dal libro alla lavagna) utilizzando contemporaneamente le informazioni provenienti dai due occhi;

– le abilità di stereopsi, ovvero percezione della profondità e senso di tridimensionalità;

– le abilità di visualizzazione, che consentono di ricreare un’immagine mentale di qualcosa visto in precedenza, mantenerlo a mente e manipolarlo.

Queste sono solo alcune delle abilità percettive e spaziali che fanno parte del sistema visivo e che ognuno di noi usa, spesso inconsciamente, ogni giorno. Essendo abilità apprese, possono essere allenate e potenziate quando deficitarie, con un considerevole incremento in ogni prestazione, da quella cognitiva a quella motoria.

Diviene ora chiaro che il termine “vedere” abbia poco a che fare con la singola misurazione della vista, ma come sia necessaria un’indagine più approfondita per valutare l’intero sistema.

Per questo mese vi propongo un altro piccolo esperimento di allenamento percettivo per la visione periferica.

Esperimento : posizionatevi davanti a questa tabella di numeri ad una distanza di circa 50 cm perfettamente centrati e rilassati e portate i vostri occhi sul primo numero a sinistra il numero 6. Mentre cercate di mantenere nitido il numero 6 cercate, respirate tranquillamente e non trattenete il battito delle vostre ciglia, con la vostra visione periferica cercate inoltre di non perdere la consapevolezza della presenza di tutta la tabella e soprattutto della seconda colonna di numeri, quindi contate fino a 4 con un tempo di circa 1 secondo a battito e poi… saltate con i vostri occhi sul primo numero della seconda tabella in numero 7. Ripetete l’esercizio saltando al numero 3 e poi fino al numero 5 cosi per tutta la durata della tabella.
